733 Books and Counting...

Updated: Jul 25, 2023

Don't judge me too hard, book lovers! I'm trying my best, honest.

We all love books. That's why we're here, right? To talk about them, recommend them to each other, find out about new books we haven't read yet. But, I think I may have a problem.

I recently found an old Excel spreadsheet on my computer that was last modified in January 2017. The document is called 'Books To Buy' and when I opened it, I was greeted with row after row of intriguing book titles and their accompanying authors. There are 733 rows to be exact.

Now, I'm a bit of a nerd. I always have been, and there's nothing I like more than a good spreadsheet. Over the years I've used them in my various job roles, for my own personal gaming projects and of course, for listing the books I want to read. But what I didn't realise was just how many I had accumulated! How on earth am I going to have time to get through all of these books? And what about all of the other books that I haven't added to this lineup for the last 6 years?

When I scroll through this list, I'm ashamed to say that I don't remember a lot of them. I'm starting to think that I should maybe rename it to the 'Spreadsheet of Shame'. However, in my defence, it has been a very long time since I've opened this document! This isn't to say that any of these books are forgettable or unworthy though; they obviously made it onto my spreadsheet for a reason, and so my next project is to go through each one and find out what it is about them that caught my attention. Please send help!

So, I'm sure by now that you're probably wondering what some of these books actually are. Below are a few that I've picked at random using a handy-dandy random number generator, as I just couldn't choose which ones to showcase!

I wonder how many you recognise?

This is obviously a tiny portion of the catalogue of books waiting for my attention and I could feature many, many more. Maybe I'll do another post as a part 2 to highlight even more stories waiting to be consumed.

In the meantime, let me know if you have read any of these books, or whether you're in the same boat as me and have a huge backlog waiting for you too!

Until then, happy reading!
